What If You Don't Actually Need That Root Canal or Crown?
Millions of patients are told they “need” these procedures every year. The truth is, 60-80% can be avoided — if you find the right dentist
Biomimetic Dentistry: Saving Teeth Other Dentists Said Were Impossible to Save
At Total Care Dental, we practice biomimetic dentistry — dentistry that mimics nature rather than replacing it.
Instead of hollowing out your tooth for a root canal or grinding it down 360 degrees for a crown, we ask a different question first: what does this tooth still have, and what can we preserve?
Ozone Therapy
Instead of drilling to the nerve, we use ozone to eliminate bacteria deep in the cavity — without exposing the nerve. This stops the infection, preserves tooth structure, and gives the tooth a chance to heal itself.
Onlays Instead of Crowns
Rather than removing all of the enamel around a tooth to place a crown, we remove only the damaged portion and restore just that area. You keep your natural enamel — the tooth’s best protection.
95% Success Rate
When a tooth is treated with biomimetic techniques before the nerve is lost, we successfully avoid root canals approximately 95% of the time.
“Is Your Tooth Still Sensitive? That Means It’s Still Alive — and It May Still Be Saveable.”
Not sure what’s possible for your specific situation? That’s exactly what the new patient exam is for.

Dr. Michelle Jorgensen Built Total Care Dental Because She Couldn't Find a Dentist Like This Either
Dr. Michelle Jorgensen is a dentist, a mom, a grandma, and the founder behind everything Total Care Dental does. She spent years in practice watching patients get pushed down the same path over and over — root canal, crown, lose the tooth — and knew there was a better way.
So she built a practice around it. The philosophy, the training, the clinical systems her team uses every day — all of it traces back to her. Her associate doctors practice under her guidance, using the same biomimetic approach she developed, with the same goal: keep the tooth, keep it healthy, keep it yours.
Today, Total Care Dental serves patients throughout Utah County who are looking for a different approach. People who’ve been told they need a root canal and want to know if that’s really true. People who are tired of feeling like they’re on a conveyor belt of drill, fill, crown, and lose.
If that sounds familiar, you’re in the right place.
Your First Visit: A Complete Picture of What's Actually Going On With Your Teeth
When you come in for your new patient exam, we don’t just look at the tooth your dentist flagged. We look at everything — because your oral health and your whole-body health are deeply connected.
Your comprehensive new patient exam includes:
- A low-dose cone beam 3D dental X-ray (CBCT) for a full structural view of your teeth and jaw
- Standard tooth X-rays
- Dental photographs
- A comprehensive gum exam with an intraoral scan
- A full oral exam by a Total Care doctor
- Jaw joint evaluation
- Oxygen, sleep, and airway evaluation
At the end of your visit, you’ll receive a complete report of findings and a clear treatment recommendation — in plain language, not dental jargon. You’ll know exactly what’s going on, what your options are, and what we recommend.
No pressure. No conveyor belt. Just the truth about your teeth.
What Total Care Dental Patients Say

The doctors at Total Care Dental - along with their AMAZING staff - make a visit to the dentist something you never dread! There is laughter always in the air, hot blankets if you are cold, detailed cleaning, and incredible attention to you as a patient. The doctors explain everything going on inside your mouth, and how dental health affects your health overall! Michelle and her staff have created the BEST dental experience our family has ever had or seen anywhere - thank you TCD!

As a holistic practitioner it was important to me to find a dentist/dental practice that would be supportive of not just my goals for teeth health but for overall health. I’ve been to many dentists over the years and Total Care Dental outperforms every one of them. They take a complete healthcare approach, are sensitive to individual needs, knowledgeable and take time to make sure no unnecessary procedures are a part of care and that the experience is as positive and patient-centric as possible. I recommend them to family, friends, and clients now and love the service and support I know I have received and that they can count on as well.

Best dental visit I've ever had! The whole staff was so friendly and I felt they all genuinely cared about my well being. Michelle Jorgensen is such a wonderful dentist and an incredible person. I love all of her knowledge and wisdom that she shares. Wendy gave me the best cleaning I ever had and Alyssa and Margot were so great to talk to. Thanks for making my visit so great and being the wonderful people that you are! See you all again soon!

I wish I found Total Care Dental 10 years ago. They were amazing. For the first time ever I left the dentist with warm and fuzzy feelings, which hasn’t been my experience with other dental offices in the past. Our dental hygienist was so very knowledgeable and sweet with my little girl. We also got to meet the pediatric dentist Dr. Jones. She was very knowledgeable, helpful and understanding. My experience was everything I hoped it would be and more. I will be telling everyone I know to go to their office.

I found my dental care from Total Care Dental to be top notch. The staff made every effort to assure my comfort, from a warm blanket to the freshly warmed and wet washcloth to wash my lip area off after the procedure. The mints and lip balm was a pleasant surprise and really helped. The dental procedure was delivered with no pain, not even during the injection. Care was taken to go slowly and I never had a sense of anything being rushed. I appreciate the passion and dedication that Dr. Jorgensen and her colleagues and staff demonstrate in their practice. Their entire focus is offering dental health that will support the person's whole body. They believe that the health of our body begins in the mouth, and they train, practice and teach their clients how to achieve this.
