Ingredients

For the Crockpot Chicken

  • 1 Large Roasting Chicken
  • 2-4 5sp Salt
  • 2 tsp Paprika
  • Dash of Cayenne Pepper
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp Thyme
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder

For the Gravy and Bone Broth

  • 1/2 Cup Water
  • 3 Tbsp Cornstarch
  • 1/4 Cup Water
  • 1 tsp Apple Cider Vinegar

Instructions

Crockpot Chicken

  • In a small bowl, combine the spices: salt, paprika, cayenne pepper, onion powder, thyme, pepper, and garlic powder.
  • In a separate bowl, remove any giblets from chicken and clean chicken.
  • Using a soup spoon, lift up the skin of the chicken and make a space between the skin and the meat. Rub the spice mixture onto the chicken under the skin and outside of the skin - on both the front and the back.
  • Put the chicken in the crockpot (No liquid is needed, the chicken will make its own juices)
  • Cook on low 6-8 hours. When finished cooking, the chicken will fall apart because it is so tender.

Gravy

  • To make the gravy, strain the juices from the crockpot into a pan and add 1/2 cup water.
  • Next, in a separate bowl mix together the cornstarch and 1/4 cup water until combined. Then add to the pan to make a gravy.
  • Whisk over medium heat, until thick.
    Season as needed.

Chicken Bone Broth

  • Save all the chicken bones and skin as you remove the meat.
  • Put into a crockpot and cover by at least 3-4 inches with water, add 1 t apple cider vinegar
  • Cook on low for 20 hours
  • Strain the bone broth and discard the bones.
  • Enjoy your homeade chicken broth!
